A Jump into the Past: The Sound of Ragtime

Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a smoky 1920s club as a band plays infectious ragtime music. The bright, percussive, and incredibly powerful sound you hear is that of the banjo ukulele. This instrument, also called a "banjolele," is a fascinating hybrid that combines the handling and tuning of a ukulele with the construction and punchy voice of a banjo. It's the perfect time machine to recreate the vintage sounds that made music history.

Why Choose the Iuke Banjo Ukulele?

  • Authentic and Powerful Sound: The secret to its sound is the prestigious Remo® Weatherking head, the world standard for banjos and drums, which guarantees a "twangy" attack and a volume you wouldn't expect from such a compact instrument. The open-back design with a mahogany pot adds a touch of warmth to the classic twang, creating a sound that is both piercing and musical.
  • Quality Construction and Hardware: The attention to detail is evident in the hardware. The robust tuners and metal tension hooks allow for precise adjustment of the head's tension, enabling you to finely customize your sound. The comfortable mahogany neck, paired with a walnut fretboard, ensures smooth playability.
  • Lightweight and Ready to Travel: Despite its solid appearance, this banjolele is surprisingly lightweight, making it comfortable to hold and play for long periods. It comes with a lightweight shaped case, perfect for protecting it and taking it to jam sessions and gigs.

Who Do We Recommend It To?

This is the perfect instrument for:

  • The lover of vintage sounds who wants to recreate the authentic tone of 1920s and '30s ragtime, dixieland, and folk music.
  • The ukulele player looking for an instrument with a completely different volume and timbre to add a new color to their music.
  • The musician who plays in a group and needs an acoustic instrument that can cut through the mix and be heard without amplification.

⚠️ Important Note on Setup

As is traditional for banjos, the instrument is shipped with the bridge unseated to protect the head during transport. Placing it is a simple, one-time operation that is part of the authentic experience:
1. Measure the distance from the nut (the first white piece near the headstock) to the 12th fret.
2. Mark the exact same distance on the head, starting from the 12th fret towards the center. That's where you'll place the bridge.
3. Tune up and check the intonation: play an open string and then the same string fretted at the 12th fret. If the fretted note is sharp, move the bridge slightly backward; if it's flat, move it slightly forward.
