BOOK - George Formby Songbook
An exhaustive collection of songs by the legendary George Formby.
George Formby has spread in England and Europe the craze of the ukulele and especially the banjo ukulele. Alvin Keech, the inventor of the banjolele built numerous instruments for him. His very imaginative strumming technique, rich in rhythm, was well suited to his light and carefree lyrics. He was criticized for this, because in times of war he sang about trivial and superficial things, but he responded by saying that the purpose of music was to entertain and not to sadden, even more so in difficult times.
This book presents 22 songs, in transcription for singing and piano but accompanied by the grids for the chords for the ukulele.
